PRIVACY POLICY

Caught4K is built around one promise: no account, no trail. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what that means — what we collect, what we deliberately never store, and how you can check or delete any of it.

Last updated July 30, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Caught4K (“Caught4K,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our mobile application, website, and related services (together, the “Service”). It also explains the choices and rights you have over that information.

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the Service. If you have questions we haven’t answered here, reach out at privacy@caught4k.com.

2. Definitions

  • Account — the subscription entitlement tied to your device or app store login. Running a check does not require one.
  • Check — a single request to evaluate a photo, profile handle, or message excerpt you submit.
  • Vault — the on-device, local storage where you may choose to save a summary of a past Check.
  • Safety Circle — the contacts you choose to invite so they can see your location during a Get Home Safe session.
  • Personal Data — any information that identifies or could reasonably identify you.
  • Usage Data — information automatically collected about how the Service is accessed and used.
  • Service Providers — third parties we engage to help operate the Service, such as hosting, analytics, and payment processing partners.
  • Device — any device used to access the Service, such as a phone or tablet.
  • You — the individual using the Service.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you provide

  • Check content. The photo, profile handle, or message text you submit to run a Check. This is sent to our processing systems solely to generate your result and is not retained afterward — see §6, Data retention.
  • Vault summaries. If you choose to save a Check, only a short summary (verdict, score, nickname, and any note you add) is stored — locally, on your device.
  • Safety Circle & Safe Date details. If you use Get Home Safe, we process the contacts you invite and the location, plans, and check-in times you enter for that session, in order to share them with the people you selected.
  • Support & contact information. If you email us, we’ll have whatever you include in that message, such as your email address.

3.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device type, operating system, and app version
  • App lifecycle events — installs, opens, and when the app moves to the background — and which screens and features you use
  • Crash reports and unhandled errors, including the technical stack trace that caused them
  • Product events describing that something happened, never its content. A completed Check, for example, records the kind of input you chose (photo, profile, or message), the verdict, the confidence score, and whether you were on a paid plan — but never the photo, profile, or message itself
  • Approximate, session-scoped location while a Get Home Safe session is active, and only for the duration of that session

This analytics data is tied to a random, device-level identifier, not to you. We don’t ask the analytics service to link events to a name, an email address, or any account, because there is no account to link them to.

3.3 Purchase & subscription data

Subscriptions are billed and managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and entitlements are tracked through RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of your subscription status and plan, but never your full payment card details — those stay with Apple or Google.

4. How we use information

  • Run the Photo Trace, AI Photo Scan, and Message Decoder checks you request
  • Operate Get Home Safe sessions and notify your chosen Safety Circle
  • Maintain, secure, and improve the Service, including diagnosing crashes
  • Process and manage your Caught4K Pro subscription
  • Respond to support requests
  • Meet legal and regulatory obligations

We do not use the content of your Checks — the photos, profiles, or messages you submit — for advertising, model training, or any purpose beyond producing that one result.

5. Sharing your information

We never sell your personal data. We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers.Hosting, analytics, crash reporting, and the image/text processing vendors that power a Check, each bound by contract to use your information only to provide that service to us. They’re named individually in §5.1 below.
  • Payments. Apple, Google, and RevenueCat, to process and manage your subscription.
  • Your Safety Circle. Location and session details you choose to share during Get Home Safe are visible only to the people you specifically invite.
  • Legal requirements. If required to comply with a valid legal process, protect our rights, or protect the safety of any person.
  • Business transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to the commitments in this Policy.

5.1 Who we work with

These are every third party that receives data from Caught4K, what each one gets, and why. Each is bound to use it only to provide that service to us.

  • Hive AI — the detection models behind a Check. When you run one, the photo, profile handle, or message text you submitted is transmitted to Hive to be scored for reverse-image matches, signs of AI generation, and scam language. Hive returns the result and neither we nor Hive retain the content afterward. Hive’s privacy policy.
  • PostHog — product analytics and error tracking. Receives the automatic data described in §3.2: app lifecycle and screen events, device and app version, crash reports, and product events tied to a random device-level identifier. It never receives the content of a Check. PostHog’s privacy policy.
  • RevenueCat — subscription management. Receives an anonymous app user identifier and your purchase and entitlement status, so the app knows whether to unlock Caught4K Pro. Never your payment card details. RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
  • Vercel— hosting for this website and for the API that runs a Check. Data passes through Vercel’s infrastructure in transit and appears in standard server logs (such as IP address and timestamp), which we use to keep the service running and to prevent abuse. Vercel’s privacy policy.
  • Apple — billing and distribution. Apple processes your payment and manages your subscription; we receive confirmation of its status, never your card details. Apple’s privacy policy.

If we add or replace a provider on this list, we’ll update this section and the “last updated” date at the top of this page.

6. Data retention

The photo, profile, or message content you submit for a Check is processed to produce your result and is not retained afterward. We don’t keep a copy on our servers once your verdict is returned.

If you choose to save a Check to your Vault, only the summary — never the original content — is stored, and it lives locally on your device. Deleting the app, or using Delete Everything in Settings, removes it. Safety Circle location data is discarded once a Get Home Safe session ends. Account and subscription records are kept only as long as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations.

7. Your rights & choices

You’re in control of what Caught4K holds on to. From the app, you can:

  • Download My Data — request a copy of the information tied to your subscription and account
  • Delete Everything — wipe your local Vault, saved contacts, and settings from your device
  • Delete Account & Data — close your account entirely and remove associated backend records

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights directly, contact privacy@caught4k.com.

8. Data security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards — including encryption in transit — to protect the information we handle. No digital system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute protection, but we design the Service so the most sensitive content (your Checks) simply doesn’t persist longer than it has to.

9. Children’s privacy

Caught4K is intended for users who are 18 or older. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us at privacy@caught4k.com and we’ll remove it.

10. International data transfers

Your information may be processed in a country other than the one you live in. Where that happens, we use appropriate safeguards — such as encryption and contractual data protection terms with our Service Providers — to keep it protected wherever it’s processed.

The Service may link out to third-party sites, such as the app stores or a share destination you pick. We aren’t responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies separately.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we’ll notify you in the app or by email where applicable. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
